TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson police lifted a lockdown Friday at an eastside elementary school after they tracked down an armed man who had driven by the school repeatedly.
According to Sgt. Pete Dugan, the man had a shotgun or rifle in the front seat of his vehicle and drove back and forth in front of Marshall Elementary, 9066 E. 29th Street. A crossing guard called 911.
Police placed the school on lockdown while they looked for the vehicle. They found it parked at a home, and observed that the vehicle had a gun mount in the center console.
Officers told the man that driving by a school with a weapon could cause concern.
The mount in the vehicle was legal and no charges or citations were issued.
