Tucson police have arrested Jesus Rodriguez, the 27-year-old man who threatened his girlfriend and Pima Community College.

Students at PCC were a little more vigilant when faculty and staff received an alert warning them about Rodriguez.

Over the weekend, police say he fired at least seven shots at two of his ex-girlfriend's family members.

PCC officials issued the alert after Rodriguez threatened his ex by saying he knows which campus she attends & her schedule. Starting Wednesday,  PCC beefed up security by adding more officers to patrol their Desert Vista campus.

But it was after January 8th 2011 when they started looking at campus safety a little more closely.

"Being able to lock classroom doors so people can shelter in place if necessary, we've provided extra training classes," said PCC's Libby Howell.

The move come after former PCC student, Jared Loughner opened fire at a Safeway five years ago. Since then, Howell says school officials have taken steps toward working to identify students who could potentially pose a threat.

"If you have students that you feel are mentally unstable or are of a concern, here are your options here's how to take action and hopefully increase their safety."
